If you are out with young ones of a parent you’re dating and they began to act out, try to reason with them. Give the options of time outs if the mother is not around.
However, if you’re on your own, let the child know that you will report this behavior to their mom as soon as the opportunity permits. Don’t try to be a friend and perhaps cover up bad behavior, instead make your stand verbal and firm that you are not happy with the behavior. Hitting a child is never an option, so steer clear of any urges to do so.
